As summer comes to an end, I wanted to make a roundup of my summer beauty favorites. These goodies are ones that I have consistently found myself reaching towards this entire summer. From a new favorite foundation to discovering a new highlighter, there is definitely something for everyone in this list. Most of these items are for sure going to be still used during the fall time, too! Hope you enjoy reading through these beauty favorites!
color: medium to tan
I have been so obsessed with this kit for so many reasons. So I am not that great with makeup so when it comes to makeup, I am definitely looking for versatility and ease of use over anything else. I actually got this in Marshall’s and had no idea how to use it—just figured that I should have some contour palette in my collection. I’ve since learned to use this palette to bring more dimension back to my face if I were to wear foundation that day. Actually, now that I think about it, the only time I use it is probably on the days I’m wearing foundation. But within this past month, I have also doubled up on its duty and also wear the darker browns as my eye shadow! Lazy me needed a quick eye look signaling that I tried one day and just thought I would try it. I thought it worked great and blended so well!
shade 66: Bois De Rose Satin Finish
I got this lipstick about 3 years ago and have since fallen back in love with it when I randomly wanted to wear it again one day. Mattes during the summer are extra drying on my lips for some reason so I’ve been learning towards more hydrating lip product. This one is the perfect pinky nude for me. I once again began to understand what people meant by the “your lips but better” color. I think this color looks great on everyone and goes with EVERY look. It’s subtle yet still packs a punch!
L’Arbre Illuminé Palette
Like contouring, I had no idea what to do with blush and what to do with it all. But this palette was so gorgeous and the colors inside are to die for! Don’t even let me get started about how cute the packaging is! I usually get nervous around blush because of all the bright pinks out there, but these shades are quite subdued and airy. I think they would look good on ANY skin color/tone. Personally, I just take a large blush brush and rub it across all of them and apply for the perfect pink cheeks! And bonus, every time I use it, Alex notices and compliments me by saying he likes my “pink cheeks.”
Another item that I had no idea what I was doing with. When I tried this product out for the first time, I was so confused at where I should put it, how much and if it would even look good. But because this shade is so versatile, it looks good on everyone! And it’s not too in your face so I never fear that it looks as if I am applying too much. And everyone loves a good glow in the summer!
Shade Warm Natural (4.5)
And the core of it all is this new foundation that I have been loving. I found this at Nordstrom Rack and with the help of my friend, we found the perfect color match. I don’t think I tan that much in the summer since I am always inside so I am definitely going to continue wearing this! The formula is extremely buildable and long-lasting. My favorite part is the bottle — it’s feels so well-made!
Shade: Light Translucent
To seal all that in, I started using a powder which helps with my sweaty/oily parts as the day progresses. This one is great because I don’t have to worry about color-matching and it was kinda fool-proof to learn how to use. It really makes my makeup last a lot longer and prevents my face from looking too cakey which is something I hate.
Color: Asphalt Black
I was thinking maybe this mascara was called the shock because of the shock it gave me when I realized I liked something other than the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara I have been sooo obsessed with lately. This mascara has been so AMAZING! I don’t know how else to put it, but it makes my lashes look longer and fuller without making them look chunky or like I have spider-legs on my eyeballs. At first, I thought I was crazy for liking it so much and maybe it was because I was using something new, but even my sister said it was good!!
Wow, I tried so many new things this summer and it was a great one at that. I can’t remember the last time I was such a big makeup junkie! This collection just keeps growing and I can’t help myself — now I just need someone who is more of a professional or better than me (which shouldn’t be too hard) to come help/teach me more things! It has also gotten me more excited to try out more things in the future to curate more beauty favorites blog posts for you all.
A million and one thanks for reading — until my next lil’ thought then!
